Larry Silverman has been a member of the Pennsylvania bar since 1973,
having graduated from Temple University School of Law in that year.
Larry is the firm's senior litigator. While at Temple, Larry was an editor
of the Temple Law Quarterly. Upon graduation from law school, Larry worked
for seven years with one of the foremost civil litigators in the Philadelphia
area devoting his practice to products liability, medical malpractice and
general litigation matters. Upon joining his prior firm in 1979,
Larry continued his representation of plaintiffs in similar types of cases
but also began representing numerous primary insurers as well as excess
carriers in various types of insurance litigation, including catastrophic
damage cases arising out of alleged product defects and aviation matters
as well as medical negligence, general negligence, asbestos and toxic tort
claims. On behalf of primary insurers, Larry has tried dozens of cases
before juries including complex product liability, aviation, trucking and
bad faith claims as well as general negligence matters and complex coverage
disputes spanning the spectrum of coverage litigation. Larry has defended
without the need for trial hundreds of other claims. Professionally, Larry
is a member of numerous bar associations and professional organizations
including the Defense Research Institute and the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia
Associations of Defense Counsel. He is an active member of several committees
of the Philadelphia Bar Association including the Professional Responsibility
Committee and is the former Co-Chair of the Professional Guidance Committee. In
November, 2002, Larry was appointed by Governor Rendell to the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania Medical Malpractice Insurance Crisis Task Force, for which has served
on numerous subcommittees including the Insurance Subcommittee, of which he is chair.
