Rendell Names Two SBV Lawyers to Malpractice Liability Insurance Crisis Task Force At a press conference on November 20, announcing the establishment of a special task force to study and then promptly recommend short and long term solutions to the medical malpractice crisis facing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Governor Elect Edward G. Rendell named Lawrence Silverman and John Pumphrey of SBV to the 28 person task force. The members of the task force were drawn from a broad cross section of interested groups including the plaintiff and defense trial bar, the insurance industry, the medical professions, consumers, labor and the legislature. The task force is funded by the Pew Charitible Trusts and will draw upon the consulting services of well known health care expert Dr. William Sage. Silverman and Pumphrey were two of the members of the defense bar appointed to the task force.
